Houshmandzadeh Chooses Seattle

Well, the vigil is over, Vikings fans. The way things look right now, fans all over the Land O Lakes will never have the need to learn to spell the former Cincinnati receiver’s name.

After spending quite a few days in Seattle and Minneapolis (eating and sleeping for free), Housh elected to sign with the Seahawks. The first on this news was Michael Smith of ESPN.com, and the rest jumped on soon after. Included in the fray was our very own Judd Zulgad and Chip Scoggins of the Star Tribune.

In terms of contract details, Smith of ESPN fills us in via the Star Tribune:

“Michael Smith of ESPN reported the deal was more than $40 million for five years, with more than $15 million guaranteed.”

One of the main reasons Housh decided to sign in Seattle was its “nearness” to his home… in Los Angeles. The only thing in common with Seattle and Los Angeles, my dad said, is the time zone. If Housh really believes that he will often be able to visit his family during the regular season, he’s crazy.

The news is as close to official as they come, and all I can say is “too bad, but no big loss.”

But Jay Cutler is another story. Stay tuned here at VikingVigil to get the latest info on the Cutler developments as they relate to the Vikings.

One Response to “Houshmandzadeh Chooses Seattle”

  1. Michael Says:

I agree on Houshmandzadeh making some questionable comments on why he picked SEA over MIN. He said that the Seahawks “were a better team”, huh? In case I missed something there is a reason they have a higher pick in the draft than even the BENGALS. Their defense was swiss cheese last year, ranking 30th in the league. Good luck Doushmandzadeh, hope SEA is what you thought it was. Good thing we play them this year, I dont even care if we beat Detroit twice, so long as we beat Seattle. I would have no problem with the signing if Houshmandzadeh just said, “it was for the money” but he beat around the bush, and straight up insulted our team. Unforgiveable!
